Why I created this brand
Since I made the big brain move to drop out of high school after the tenth grade, I didn’t receive an academic introduction to philosophy like most people opting for a college course. It wasn’t until my mother committed suicide and my father died from lung disease only seven months later that my search for answers and, thus, my introduction became a necessity rather than a choice. Epictetus says, “Don’t explain your philosophy. Embody it.” We must do this to overcome the struggles we’re facing in life. We must go deeper than the egotistical approach most of us have when we read philosophy, only trying to remember the words to appear intellectual or be condescending in an argument. I believe that writing about the stoic philosophy I’m reading will help me become a better philosopher and practicing stoic myself, with the added benefit of sharing the same information that has saved my life. To paraphrase Anthony DeMello, “Altruism is just selfishness, the pleasure you give yourself from helping others.”
