Begin at once to live, and count each separate day as a separate life
Seneca
Have you ever gotten to towards the end of the year and thought, “Next year I’ll start this new routine,” or even worst, the next year arrives and a month in your back to your old ways? Listen, you’re going to slip up; Seneca, along with many other stoics, knew this because they also slipped up. You can’t wait till next year, nor beat yourself up when you break from your disciplined routine. Every day you need to hit the refresh button, don’t worry about what you will do tomorrow, next week, or next year. Today requires all your energy and focus, and don’t let the things you mess up today carry over with you tomorrow when it’s time to do it again. Live in the now. It’s the only thing in your control. It’s the only time you’re guaranteed.
