The things you think about determine the quality of your mind
Marcus Aurelius
What you put in is what you get out. A mind filled with thoughts containing anger, desire, fear, and other forms of ignorance will undoubtedly form a weak human incapable of the fortitude necessary to lead a virtuous life despite external influences. In this age of information, it’s becoming increasingly important you consider this. The current growth of social media users is correlated with increased depression. It’s no surprise when social media content invokes mostly negative emotions in people. You need to escape the thinking mind sometimes and return to the essence of being alive. If you’ve ever meditated, you’ve probably experienced moments of pure tranquility when the thinking mind shuts off, and everything just is. You no longer identify with everything; you are an observer, and the thinking mind ceases. Once you are in tune with this, you’ll be more readily able to stop your identification with the external sources of your pain; whatever creates anger, desire, or fear is now merely just an occurrence. A cause without an effect. A powerless emotion. You are free.
