I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.
Carl Jung
It’s easy to fall into the abyss of victimhood. A job layoff turns your unconventional habit of drinking when stressed into a daily routine. A daily drinking routine turns you into an alcoholic. Alcoholism turns into X. Before we know it, our life is in ruin, and we’re telling everyone it’s all because our job laid us off. Once upon a time, I was participating in unspeakable things, and if you’d asked me why during that period of unawareness, I’d given you a long list of justifications in response to misfortunate occurrences that happened to me. I was throwing my life away because I was emotional and weak. I lacked the awareness of the power contained within, the ability to choose what I become.
